School Programs – The Learning Ladder

Have a Chat Speech Pathology offers high-quality evidence-based speech pathology services within schools. We aim to use a Whole School Collaborative Approach which is multi-tiered. This approach supports students with speech, language, and communication needs (SLCN) through collaborative partnerships between the whole school community and speech pathologists.

Key features of the “Whole School Collaborative Approach”:

  • Professionals work together and share knowledge and skills to support all students with an integrated approach
  • Awareness amongst professionals about speech, language, communication, and the curriculum with an understanding of how these elements interact. Professionals also have an awareness of the broader social context of students and families at the school
  • Professionals collaborate to create environments that facilitate communication and learning and can be adapted to individual student needs
  • A range of ‘tiered’ interventions are planned and delivered by speech pathologists and/or teachers
  • Teacher monitoring of student communication and learning to inform student inclusion in ‘tiered’ interventions
